SICK DAY MEME
( REQUESTED RE-POST)

There's not denying it, you're feeling crap. School, work, a date, tea with nana, mowing the lawns, doing your laundry, that important meeting... you can't make it. You want to stay in bed and maybe you just need a little TLC in the process. What is YOUR reason for that ever-fateful call in sick that every boss just loves to hate? RULES: - Leave a comment with your character's name, fandom, and any preferences you have.  - When replying, RNG for a number between 1 and 16.  - The number corresponds to the scenario that you will play out in any way you feel the urge.  - The poster is the sick person, the tagger is the one taking care of them/keeping them company. - Go from there!

THE LIST:
1// COLD
It's just a boring old sinus infection and you probably could go in, but you're not because bed is just too nice.

2// FLU
You feel like you're dying and everything aches, but it's not quite serious enough to arrange your own funeral yet.

3// MAN FLU
Doesn't anyone understand how sick and miserable you are?! You can't function! The world is ending! You need cuddles, and hugs, and you can't do ANYTHING by yourself!

4// STOMACH BUG
Uh oh, this is going to get messy...

5// FOOD POISONING
But that meal was sooooooo good. The best you ever had! Why is it betraying you so badly?! Never eating ever again. 

6// CONCUSSION
You've been hit in the head and now it feels like it's going to explode. Being horizontal is the best option, and not even in a good way.

7// MONO
Everything hurts, you feel sick, you don't want to move, you don't want to eat, but you're in it for the long haul. Company and maybe some cuddles with chicken soup might be nice.

8// CHICKEN POX OR MEASLES
SPOTS! Spots everywhere! Yes, even there! You look hideous and it itches so damn much. Don't scratch, don't scratch... oh screw it!

9// LARYNGITIS
Your throat hurts so bad and now you can't talk. How are you going to communicate, maybe you need a little bell? Is it bad form to text message someone sitting right in front of you? Who cares, you want chicken soup.

10// HANGOVER
It's still sick, right?

11// BACK PAIN
You don't know what you have done, but you woke up barely able to move. You probably shouldn't have done what you did last night... and you should probably rest it.

12// INCAPACITATING INJURY
You got hurt, you can move much, and you're stuck in bed. Is it a broken bone? Torn groin muscle? Cracked ribs? Whatever it is, the world clearly hates you.

13// POST ROUTINE SURGERY
It was a simple procedure and now you're back home. The only catch is, you can't be alone for 48 hours in case of complications, with the added bonus of it hurts like a bitch.

14// POST MAJOR SURGERY
You're stuck in hospital for a few days and have a gaping surgial wound. There aren't even any hot nurses. Now what?

15// LONG TERM ILLNESS
You've just been diagnosed with a longer-term illness (of your choice). You're feeling poorly and don't want to be alone. 

16// ANYTHING GOES
Something not listed here, have a wildcard of your choice! Anything that might lead to a timely sick day.

[Well that certainly sounded like a resounding 'no' to him. He kept his gaze down at the soup, shoulders sagging slightly, suddenly less hungry than he had been before. He reached over to feel for the table and set the bowl on it. He truly wished if she had no fondness for him, that she would have simply left him alone, rather than drag such things out and give him a sense of false hope. He did at least manage to keep his tone level and flat.]

I think I am tired.

[Welp. There goes his one whole feeling again Tyrande. Stop hurting it already, it's already pathetic. One of these days it's just going to quit on him.]

[anudora]

I...yes, I can imagine you should--would be. You still do not look exceptionally well. [ She was hesitant and it was evidently in the slower way her words came out. As if she were trying to find the right things to say and the right ways to say them. Were there any right ways? After all that had transpired between them.

She let out a sigh and turned her back to him. ]

Would you like me to leave?

[unpreparer]

No.

[And then he sat there wondering why he was just doing this to himself now. No small part of him wished to be alone, but he had already known that would not would be his answer if asked the question by Tyrande. She could break his heart a thousand times, he'd still ask for her to stay. This time he wasn't quite able to hold back the dour edge to his voice.]

But I suppose you would. Don't let me be the one to hold you back, Tyrande.

[anudora]

[ She slumped her shoulders for a second and then let herself sigh before straighten back up. Why did she still feel tinged with guilt and sorrow when it game to everything associated with him? Guilt, sorrow, and some amount of anger. ]

What would you be holding me back from, Illidan?

[unpreparer]

[He let himself slump against the wall. That would be a satisfactory position to sleep in for now.]

Something you actually care about.

[anudora]

[ She frowned and then looked directly at him with anger in her eyes. ]

Do not presume to know what I do or do not care about.

[unpreparer]

[BLIND TYRANDE. GLARE AT HIM ALL YOU WANT. HE CAN'T SEE IT.]

Then why not just make it clear? Or do you get too much joy out of these games you play toying with me?

[anudora]

[ SHE WILL SHE WILL GLARE SO HARDCORE. MIGHT EVEN BE STOMPING HER FOOT BECAUSE FUCK HIM. ]

I am hardly toying with you, Illidan!

[unpreparer]

[STILL CAN'T SEE IT. THAT FOOT SOUNDS PRETTY SASSY THOUGH. MUST SUCK TO BE THE FLOOR. GOOD THING HE'S NOT THAT FLOOR.]

Then why haven't you given me an answer? To anything.

[anudora]

[ Sometimes, like now, she wishes he were the floor getting kicked. If only she could simply kick him. But he is sick and she can't just go around doing that. ]

What answers do you wish?

[unpreparer]

[Well Tyrande you already kicked him in the feeling.]

It hardly matters. It is all past now.

[Just like everything else. He didn't really want to ask the question again, now certain he would know the answers to them. This way he could at least pretend to hold onto the blissful ignorance, and give himself the false hope that the person most dear to him still considered him as some sort of friend.]

[anudora]

[ Another glare was thrown directly at him, not that he could see it. In a way that was a blessing. She could spend an eternity glaring at him and he would never know of it. If she were less dignified she could even stick her tongue out at him. Luckily she was far too dignified for that. ]

If it hardly matters why did you bring it up?

[unpreparer]

I already got my answer.

[And he stood up to try and storm out, but then was suddenly hit by the reminder that he felt like death, and promptly sat himself back down. Well, more like fell back, but he would refuse to admit that.

Thinking on it, none of this was really surprising that it happened to him. This was just his life. He would get sick, run into Tyrande so she could just come dash his hopes. Again. The only way this could POSSIBLY get any wore would be if Maiev showed up. Or his brother. Or both.]

[ She moved swiftly and unconsciously to his side as he fell back to. Why was she so concerned? It was almost like the memories of the care she had for him long ago simply kicked back in. It had almost been like that when she had decided he could save them if she only freed him.

What a terrible choice that had been. ]

What do you think you are doing, Illidan? What are you trying to prove?

[unpreparer]

I have nothing to prove to anyone. I merely dislike being caged up inside like this for so long. It's stifling.

[Because, what, 30 minutes of squirming in a chair is clearly torture to a near immortal manchild.

Still, he was pouting where he sat. Couldn't even storm off. It was like being imprisoned except it wasn't a cage that had him bound, but some petty illness.]

[anudora]

[ She let out the most exasperated sigh that a person could possibly let out and then shook her head. ] Of course you do not. Even if you did you would not admit to it. I do not know why I even bothered to ask it of you. [ Or anything. They merely went around in circles with one another for an eternity. Which they no longer had so they really should put a stop to that. ]

[unpreparer]

And I am left to wonder why you have bothered to do any of what you have today, but I don't expect to get a straight answer from you.

[And once more he slumped against the wall, reigned to being forced to rest. At least for the next 10 minutes before he got squirmy again.]

[ Why had she done this indeed? The feelings connected with it were so twisted and complicated that perhaps she was not even truly certain. ]

Is it so difficult to think that memories are powerful motivators? Our people hold onto the past like no others.

[unpreparer]

[Well, he could hardly argue with her on that. He pretty much proved that rule after all. Ten thousand years and here he was still holding grudges, an trying to gain some sort of affection from Tyrande. Of course it just wound up making history repeat itself over and over, yet he couldn't bring himself to end the cycle. He tried when he had fled Outland, but it was much more difficult here.]

I suppose I cannot disagree with you on that...

[He let out a grunt, as even sitting upright was becoming a struggle on its own. Slowly he pushed himself from the wall and eased himself down onto the bed as best he could. It had been so long since he had actually properly rested on a bed, and the sensation had almost grown foreign to him. But his body felt too heavy for him to do much else, and the chill and dizziness that washed over him only seem to subside as he lay there.]

I suppose that is as much as I shall mean to you isn't it? Merely an old memory from the past come to haunt you.

None of our people could disagree with that. [ Perhaps it simply came with long lives. It seemed that all of them had the same hang ups, the same issues that never seemed to get solved. ]

Illidan...[ Her voice trailed off halfheartedly as she looked over at him. What was there for her to say to that? What did he want her to say to that? A sigh escaped her lips and she shook her head, grateful that he could not see her body language. ]
